Like its cousin the Columbia Blacktail, the Columbia Whitetail Deer is named after the Columbia River areas of Oregon and Washington. There are very few herds of Columbia Whitetail Deer, as it only inhabits very few areas scattered in Oregon and Washington.
Here in the Umpqua Valley, in Douglas County, Oregon, is the only place in the world that they may be hunted. There are less than 50 tags for the general public.
